Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas and the Texas State University System–Polk County Center hosted the Polk County Career Expo on October 1, 2025, where 610 students across Polk, San Jacinto, and Tyler counties explored high-demand careers and met with more than 30 employers and education partners, connecting them with pathways to success in Deep East Texas.

Texas Workforce Solutions–Vocational Rehabilitation Services hosted the National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) Business Networking Event on October 16 in Lufkin. The event celebrated the contributions of individuals with disabilities and encouraged businesses to build stronger, more diverse workplaces across Deep East Texas.

The Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) is launching a Broadband Assessment and Action Plan to strengthen internet connectivity across our region. Residents and businesses are encouraged to participate in a brief online survey to share their broadband needs and experiences.
The August labor market statistics for the region reflected a rate of 5.5%, an increase from the July rate (5.1%). The regional unemployment rate is slightly higher than the rate recorded a year ago (5.4%).
