The September Labor Market statistics for the region reflected a rate of 4.9, a drop from the August rate of 5.3. The regional unemployment rate is higher than the rate recorded a year ago (4.8). The September comparison to August labor force increased by 898, the number of workers employed rose by 1,551, and unemployment fell by 653.
The Jobs and Education Forums are being held to encourage dialogue and gather feedback regarding the mindset in employer/employee relationships. School districts, post-secondary institutions, students, county officials, community organizations, and other community members are invited to participate.
The fourth annual Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas Teacher Externship took place June 10-14, 2024. Thirteen businesses and 15 teachers from 11 school districts collaborated to better prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s workforce. The Externship’s focus was on high-demand occupations such as manufacturing, healthcare, professional and technical services, and construction.
