MVPs Dine Drink Cheer Honored as Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas Employer of Excellence

JASPER, TEXAS – MVPs Dine Drink Cheer received the 2020 Employer Award of Excellence for the Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas area. The award honors private sector employers that are actively involved with Texas Workforce Solutions and have made a positive impact on employers, workers and the community.
Members of the Deep East Texas Local Workforce Development Board presented the award to Derek Billingsley, owner of MVPs Dine Drink Cheer.
“The Workforce Board is pleased to honor MVPs Dine Drink Cheer, whose efforts to partner with the workforce system in hiring, training and retaining a quality staff, has contributed to the economic and workforce objectives in the region,” said Board Member Eddie Hopkins. Participating in the ceremony with Mr. Hopkins were Board Members Joe Clyde Adams and Quincy Martindale, as well as Executive Director Mark Durand.
MVPs Dine Drink Cheer was recognized for creating a work environment built on serving customers as a team and developing character as individuals. The relationship between MVPs management and Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas began in late 2019 before the business opened. Once the employment plan was created, positions were posted to WorkInTexas.com, and the team at the Jasper County Workforce Center facilitated the application and hiring process. MVPs used the workforce center to conduct interviews for the initial hiring of 75 employees. MVPs labor force had reached nearly 100 employees prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company currently employs 64 people and continues to utilize the workforce services with their ongoing hiring needs. A strong neighbor, MVPs supports the community through its donations to charities and local youth sports organizations.

Mr. Billingsley accepted the award, saying, “We are extremely honored to be named Local Employer of Excellence by Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas. MVPs emphasizes excellent customer service provided by quality staff members. The establishment offers a unique atmosphere featuring local sports memorabilia and showcasing past and present local talent.” MVPs Dine Drink Cheer is a full-service sports-branded restaurant in Jasper, Texas, that specializes in American Cuisine.
Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas is among 28 local workforce boards located throughout the state. The board serves Angelina, Houston, Jasper, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, Tyler counties with the primary goal of meeting the needs of Texas employers and workers through locally-designed, market-driven workforce development initiatives and services.
