Polk County Career Expo Inspires Future Workforce

Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas
Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas, in partnership with the Texas State University System–Polk County Center, hosted the Polk County Career Expo on October 1, 2025, at the Polk County Commerce Center. The event welcomed 610 students from Polk, San Jacinto, and Tyler counties to explore high-demand career paths and engage directly with employers, educators, and workforce professionals.
This Career Exploration Initiative is designed to connect students with real-world career opportunities across a range of industries including health care, manufacturing, construction, law enforcement, education, finance, and more, while showcasing the education and training pathways available locally to support success in high-wage, high-demand fields.
More than 30 employers, agencies, and education partners participated in the event, including:
Georgia-Pacific, Provalus, RoyOMartin, Corrigan OSB, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Texas Department of Public Safety, DETCOG 911, Sam Houston Electric Cooperative, First National Bank of Livingston, Lamar Institute of Technology, Lamar State College–Orange, Angelina College Workforce & Continuing Education, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Jail Division, among others.
Interactive exhibits such as Lamar Institute of Technology’s EMS simulator and Sam Houston Electric Cooperative’s bucket truck demonstration gave students hands-on experiences while learning about diverse career pathways.
This successful event highlights the strong partnerships between education, industry, and workforce development working together to prepare the next generation for meaningful careers in Deep East Texas.
