AUSTIN – The Texas Jobs Council today invites Texans to apply for specialized work groups focused on strengthening the state’s workforce and driving economic growth.
“The State of Texas builds on its economic dynasty by having the most robust workforce in the nation,” said Governor Greg Abbott. “To meet workforce demands in our growing economy, the Texas Jobs Council will expand workforce training and enhance job opportunities for Texans across the state. I strongly encourage Texans to apply to these workgroups and take part in building the next generation of hardworking Texans.”
The work groups will help the Council craft practical recommendations on policy and executive actions. The work groups will focus on:
- Expanding Apprenticeship and On-The-Job Training Opportunities
- Growing Workforce Pipelines and Promoting Careers in Trades
- Meeting Workforce Needs
- Next Generation Workforce
“True progress comes from collaboration, and no one knows the challenges and opportunities in our workforce better than Texans themselves,” said TWC Chairman Joe Esparza. “These work groups are a direct pipeline for industry leaders and local innovators to share their firsthand knowledge. We are not just asking for opinions; we are asking for partners in crafting the policies that will keep Texas’ economy strong.”
Texans with experience in these areas are encouraged to complete the online interest form at https://www.twc.texas.gov/texas-jobs-council-workgroup-participation-form by April 7, 2026.
This initiative follows the Council's inaugural meeting on March 16, where Governor Abbott tasked the group with bolstering the state’s workforce and ensuring Texans are equipped for high-demand careers. Learn more about the Texas Jobs Council at https://www.twc.texas.gov/texas-jobs-council.
