HDJT Grant and Partnership with JEDCO Funds Equipment to Prepare Students for Computer Occupations
On September 14, 2023, Chairman Bryan Daniel, Commissioner Representing the Public for the Texas Workforce Commission, presented a $56,172 High Demand Job Training (HDJT) grant to Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas (WSDET). With a $56,172 matching grant from the Jasper Economic Development Corporation (JEDCO), WSDET used the grants to purchase equipment to train 30 local students from six surrounding school districts for careers in high-demand occupations, such as network computer systems and computer user support.
Deep East Texas College and Career Academy is a collaboration of Jasper ISD, Burkeville ISD, Kirbyville ISD, Newton ISD, Spurger ISD, Woodville ISD, Lamar Institute of Technology and Stephen F. Austin State University.
