Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Ty Cauthen as its new Executive Director, effective June 2, 2025.
Dr. Cauthen brings a wealth of leadership experience in education and rural workforce initiatives. With a background in educational leadership, including roles as campus principal and most recently as National Project Director for AmeriCorps and Partners for Rural Impact, Dr. Cauthen is known for his deep commitment to equity, innovation, and community-centered service.
"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Cauthen to Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas,” said Ellen Mills, Board Chair for Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas. “His visionary leadership, passion for connecting underserved communities with meaningful opportunities, and experience in navigating rural challenges make him an outstanding fit for our region.”
Dr. Cauthen holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University, where his research focused on supporting at-risk youth. He also earned his Superintendent Certification from the University of Texas, a Master’s in Educational Leadership, and a Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin State University.
In his new role, Dr. Cauthen will guide the organization’s efforts to strengthen the region’s workforce through innovative partnerships, targeted training solutions, and inclusive strategies that respond to the evolving needs of both job seekers and employers.
“I’m incredibly honored to lead Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas,” said Dr. Ty Cauthen. “This region holds tremendous potential, and I’m excited to help build the bridge between our rural communities and the workforce opportunities they deserve. My goal is to lead with purpose, foster collaboration, and implement data-informed strategies that drive meaningful change across the Deep East region.”
Dr. Cauthen’s leadership philosophy centers on relational leadership—being present, accessible, and focused on removing barriers while amplifying the strengths of others. He believes that the success of workforce development lies not only in program delivery but in the lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families.
As Executive Director, Dr. Cauthen will work closely with community partners, educational institutions, employers, and local governments to create a thriving, inclusive, and future-ready workforce across the Deep East Texas area.
